fuzzylime was commissioned to design and develop a new website for the charity The Compassionate Friends, which supports people who have suffered the death of a child/children.
The site had to incorporate a large volume of information, making it easy to find, and signposting visitors to the most appropriate area in a quick and easy manner.
The old site was very cluttered and information was often simply put on the home page, making it difficult to navigate, so we worked on developing a new structure and a style of home page that would allow information to be communicated without being the only place it could be found.
We incorporated the charity’s tweets and built a number of forms for users to request information. We also built a custom module on top of our e-commerce platform to support the purchase of leaflets and integrated the site with an external donation platform.
One of the key uses of the site is for visitors to find their nearest contact or support group and we developed a map-powered solution to do this, allowing users to enter their postcode or tap a button to find the people nearest to them.
The site also had to incorporate an area providing information for volunteers, which was to be accessible only when users had logged in. We created this area and provided a way for new volunteers to be added, and existing ones to complete tasks such as ordering stationery, passing on information and accessing information on events.
How it works
The site is powered by our fuzzylime (cms+) platform, which will make it straightforward for the TCF team to keep the site updated going forward.
We built custom modules to support the events, local area map, leaflet ordering and request forms.
What they said
“fuzzylime have just finished designing our new website and I would like to state publicly how brilliant they were. I suspect we were not the easiest of clients but they were always approachable and endlessly patient, gently advising what would work and what wouldn’t – they had a perfect combination of technical knowledge and creative design ideas.
“We think our new website is stunning and positive reports about the look and the navigation are pouring in from our users. Our chairperson has described it as ‘tender, interesting, welcoming, full of beautiful images and consoling words … The website draws one in, making one want to explore further, and is so easy to use. I can hardly believe that it is really here – what a triumph and a fantastic achievement.’
“Oh, and the site functions brilliantly too with a CMS that is really easy to use. And it was excellent value, especially for a charity. We would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending fuzzylime to anyone.”
