CLIC
Website coding & design
We were delighted to win a tender to develop the website for CLIC, a collaboration between six colleges in the west of Scotland to help businesses develop their digital capabilities.
The CLIC project was set up with funding from UK Research and Innovation to support companies in the field of digital innovation. To do that, they first need to go through an initial assessment, which identifies areas where they’re looking to improve and their current position. They’re then put in touch with a relevant college to provide support, before completing a further assessment to judge how much they have improved.
The project had a tight timeframe and a number of partners were involved – and, of course, given the field, it had to itself offer examples of innovation and ensure everything was as straightforward as possible for businesses to get involved.
Visit this siteWhat we did
We designed a really strong and inviting site, based around CLIC’s logo and branding that had been developed. We were keen to have some fun with the logo so made each element of it spin, with this increasing in speed when users scroll down the page or reversing as they’re scrolling back up.
For the assessment element, we built in time-saving features to the registration form, including the ability to pull through company details automatically from Companies House and address autocompletion based on a postcode. The assessments themselves can be answered by moving sliding scales to an appropriate point, and all the information that’s produced can be output by users in PDF report format as well as being visible directly through the site. Organisations who don’t complete the process are sent an automated email to encourage them to resume it, and when one is completed the relevant details are sent automatically to an appropriate college for follow-up.
The site’s pages comprise different “blocks”, with images chosen to sit next to each. The layout adjusts on mobile devices to a more small screen-friendly format.
Behind the scenes the CLIC partners have access to a range of options for reporting, allowing them to judge easily the impact of the programme as it progresses.

The CLIC project team really enjoyed working with fuzzylime. From the outset they were focused on our deliverables and managed the project really well, especially across such a short timeline.
From design and planning to UX and training to manage our site, I’d recommend fuzzylime for web projects.
