Good Life, Good Death, Good Grief
Website design
The Good Life, Good Death, Good Grief project has been running since 2011, working to improve Scotland’s relationship with bereavement, and we’ve been involved with its web presence from the very start – making it one of our longest-standing projects. It’s been great to work with the team, which is part of the Scottish Partnership for Palliative Care, over that time.
In 2024 the team felt it was time for the site to receive an overhaul – it was starting to show its age and the project had expanded into a large number of areas that weren’t a part of it when it kicked off.
Existing branding was being retained but the site was to have a new structure with the intention of it being easier to use for both visitors and the team behind the scenes, as some elements they had to use needed streamlining.
It was also important that a wide array of content that had been gathered over the years of the project remained accessible both throughout the rebuild and after the relaunch.
Visit this siteWhat we did
We built a vibrant new site for the campaign, based around its existing logo and colour scheme but giving it a much more modern twist. We were able to integrate more imagery into the site, starting with the front page, to guide users to the most relevant section.
The streamlined structure required an overhaul of the menu layout and we made elements such as a “breadcrumbs” trail much more apparent to help users find their way around. We also introduced a more image-based news section to highlight the broad range of work being carried out by the project.
A number of sub-projects are featured on the site and these each have their own section – so we built a custom “in this section” widget that shows beside the main content, allowing users to navigate around the particular area of the site they’re in at any given point.
We also migrated almost all the content from the previous site into the new one, ensuring that elements such as images displayed as nicely as possible within the new template.
They said …
David and Jill at fuzzylime are a pleasure to work with. They quickly understood what we needed from our website and turned their immense skill to developing a site that is exactly what we were looking for, suggesting useful features we didn’t know were possible.
The content management system is extremely easy to use, giving us flexibility and independence to change and update the site ourselves. David is speedy to respond to any minor query we have, and nothing is ever too much trouble.
As a charity we are always conscious of our finances. fuzzylime provides exceptional value for money as well as a professional, friendly service and high quality, well-designed websites. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone looking for a new website.
