We were delighted to be approached by the Rape Crisis Centre in Glasgow and asked to tender to design and develop a new website for the organisation.
The centre does some incredible work and we were privileged to learn more about it when we met the team there to discuss what we could do for them.
The organisation's old site had grown outdated, with a confusing structure and pages that looked too text-heavy. This was a case where the site had to be able to present a lot of text information but needed to do so in a way that made it easy for visitors to find what they needed in a really straightforward fashion.
We worked with the team at the centre to come up with a new structure for the site, based around top-level headings that make it easy for a visitor to figure out where they need to go within the site.
We also ensured that the design of the site's pages would work nicely with a large amount of text, using subheadings to break this up and using a Q&A format for pages including information on the law surrounding rape.
The site also includes a live chat feature, which support workers can switch on and off, allowing them to offer this service at specific times. This feature appears on every page of the site when it is enabled, allowing visitors to continue to browse the site while talking to a support worker.
How it works
The majority of the site is powered by our fuzzylime (cms+) software, which we've trained the team in so they can update its content going forward. We added in custom modules to support the site's publications area, survivor forum and the Q&A pages.
On top of this, we plugged in our newly developed natter live-chat system, which works across browsers and platforms, to manage that element of the project.
What they said
“I have no problem highly recommending David and Jill of fuzzylime to everyone. They have been an absolute pleasure to work with from the start of the consulting phase to our website launch.
“Their own CMS is foolproof and I would highly recommend it. I am a complete novice with IT and couldn’t navigate social media when they came on board with us but I can now maintain and edit all web content with speed and ease. They have great style and artistic vision coupled with the nerdy knowledge needed to provide a modern, easy access, website.
“They listened carefully to our vision, ensuring that the end product was what we wanted and delivered this and so much more. They are professional, personable and always approachable. I found them to be a great support, and they are always positive and reassuring.
“If you are looking for an accessible, modern website that gives value for money and saves you valuable time then you should do your company a favour and hire them.”
