We were approached to revamp the site for the Economic Development Consultants Directory – EDCD for short – to make it easier to use for visitors and consultants alike.
The old site had a browsable database of companies but wasn't searchable, and the site's owner had to update details and send information on payments required by hand.
We were asked to revamp the site with a new look, Twitter integration and a fully searchable database.
We also added a feature allowing consultants to add their companies directly, and to update their details, through the site. They can choose between different levels of account, to ensure higher promotion and extra features (such as the inclusion of their logo).
The site also features integration with LinkedIn, meaning it can show more information on specific contact people or on entire companies.
How it works
The base of the site is our CMS, fuzzylime (cms+), but we produced custom add-ons for the directory. The search function updates automatically as a user starts typing, showing how many results have been found for their desired term/area. Previous searches are also stored and shown to users on their return.
Users can also add companies to a shortlist, allowing them to keep a range of firms' details in one place so that they can be found quickly and easily.
