App design and coding |
We’ve previously built sites for the Bon Accord pub in Glasgow, and its online whisky shop. Paul, the bar’s owner, came back to us to ask us to build an app that would help his customers.
The bar is renowned for its huge collection of whiskies and Paul was looking for an app that would allow customers to browse the selection on their phone. The app needed to display pictures of each bottle along with its name, a short description, and a price. It also needed to be easy for Paul and the team to update.
We built an additional module into their existing site’s CMS that allowed them to manage the listings on the app. For each bottle, they can add in its details, a region and distillery, and add an image.
Whenever they want to, they can hit a button inside the CMS that will make the new content available for download. Users will then be prompted to update their listings when they next launch the app (or they can trigger this manually, if they wish).
The app is designed to be usable offline, so it downloads images the first time they’re viewed and then stores a copy.
We developed the app to run across iPhones, iPads and all range of Android devices, with one update to the content being pushed in the same format to all of these.
