We had worked for a number of years with organisations within the STUC, the Scottish Trades Union Congress. These included a variety of activities around fairness and equality at work, equal opportunities in learning and zero-hours contracts. 

When the STUC were looking to have their main website revamped to replace a much older platform, they came to speak to us and we were delighted to work with them.

Their previous site was showing its age and was hard for the STUC team to manage and update. That meant it didn’t provide a good insight into the work of the organisation and wasn’t being updated with new information as much as it could have been.

However, the new site did contain a raft of information and it was important that a lot of it be transferred over to the new site.

What we did

We worked closely with the STUC team to identify a sensible structure and a vibrant look for the site. The team had developed strong branding that they were using for printed publications and we were able to produce a variation on that for online use.

The new site makes strong use of imagery and helps guide visitors to the information they need. It’s powered by our in-house CMS and the team were delighted with its ease of use when we delivered training for them.

One key area was the ability for information to be posted and updated throughout the STUC’s annual Congress. We worked with them to identify a sensible solution to this based on our system’s blogging capabilities, using tagging to move posts between different sections as motions were debated and voted upon.
