Sarah Beeny, star of Property Ladder – currently renamed Property Snakes and Ladders as the entire market falls into a black hole – is rarely wrong.

But last night she gave a couple renovating holiday cottages for the letting market something of a bum steer. She told them that it'd be sensible to have a great-looking, contemporary website to help market their cottages – all right so far – but went on to tell them that this would cost them between £3000 and £4000!

We thought this might put some people off getting a site up and running, so we wanted to set minds at ease. As our clients will tell you, in this day and age there's no need to spend anything like that amount of cash on a normal site. Those figures might come into play for something that's custom-developed and to do something really specialised – but not to secure a web presence for a small business.
